W4CUL Net Script

Before starting the PREAMBLE, please ask:

“Is the Repeater, in use?”

[PAUSE AND LISTEN]    YOU Don’t need to ask, if you have been listening and there hasn’t been any activity. If it is “in use”, advise them that there is a scheduled NET that is about to begin. Ask if there is any objection to starting it.  Above all, be upbeat, polite and non-condescending.  Generally, people will not have a problem with it.

    I. PREAMBLE:

Calling the W4CUL NET, calling the W4CUL NET.  Good evening, this is [YOUR CALL SIGN, NAME and your LOCATION].  I will be the Net Control Station for this evening’s net.”  The repeater’s PL Tone is 146.2.  Please make sure it is set, to allow you access, to the Net.

“This net meets every SUNDAY AT 8:00PM local time, for the purposes of disseminating information and to provide training, for local amateur radio operators, in emergency and public service communications. We welcome and encourage all amateur operators on the repeater at this time, to check into the net.”

“This is a directed net, and as such, all transmissions are coordinated through Net Control. The net will call for stations to check-in.”

     II. CALL-UPS:

 Calling for Mobile Check-ins:

“Before taking standard check-ins, are there any MOBILE STATIONS that would like to check-in? If so, please call now!” [PAUSE AND LISTEN] “I heard:” [acknowledge all mobile stations checking-in] Note: Immediately solicit comments, BECAUSE they are mobile.

Thank you very much for checking in.

IV.            Calling for standard roll call check-ins:

Run through your roll call list.  Your roll call should consist

Of people (who regularly check-in).  People that miss three nets

Should be dropped.  I’d say, put people, on it, that check in three consecutive weeks.  Take people off that miss three consecutive weeks.

      V. ROLL CALL FOR COMMENTS:

At this time, I will begin the roll-call, for comments.  I will pause occasionally, for late check-ins.”  [Call the stations, in the order they checked-in]

“Again, All amateurs are welcome! Anyone within the hearing range of this repeater.  Are there any stations that would like to check-in? Please call now!” [PAUSE AND LISTEN] “I heard:” [acknowledge all stations.
