Culpeper Amateur Radio Association (CARA)
is an amateur radio club based in Culpeper, Virginia. The "club" is the owner/sponsor, of the W4CUL/147.120 (PL 146.2, when active) Repeater and the K3VB/224.180, (NO PL). K3VB is a new addition, as of June 23,2007, both, of which, are on Clark Mountain. Long/Lat 38:18:41N,-078:00:10W. HAAT ~760 ft. AMSL 1,024 ft. W4CUL is 56 watts and K3VB is 10 watts. Also, W4CUL is Echolink (Node 300136) enabled, as of May 20, 2007. Echolink is hosted from k0un's QTH and the Computer to RF-link resides, in Remington, VA.

Our weekly on-air net takes place every Sunday on the W4CUL repeater at 8pm EST. 147.120 pl 146.2 when activated. All licensed amateurs are encouraged to check in. "CLICK" for Details.

Evan is the EC/RO (Emergency Coordinator/RACES Officer) for Culpeper and Dick is the EC/RO for Orange.

Both counties have Emergency Operations Centers (EOC's) and both Evan and Dick are responsible for being available when ever the EOC's are activated. They also hold regular simulated emergency Training Sessions with the county to train Amateurs in an emergency environmen
